Publishing / Exporting

The Technical Documentation Framework provides the capability to export the contents of a Technical Document as XML, HTML, or PDF. This exported content can then support data exchange with customers, provide content for a website, or be the source for printed media. HTML and PDF versions can have their own independent styling, apply the styles used by the editor, or anything in between.
The Technical Documentation Framework provides the ability to export / publish Technical Documents and is invoked via an Action assigned to the Technical Document. The export process executes on the server and provides the converted content to the user as a single file or a compressed file (zip file) containing multiple files. Once the data is exported, the exported content is no longer under the control of Aras Innovator. Managing versions of exported content is the responsibility of the end user.
The content included in an export is based on a selected Technical Document instance, a language (see section Storing and Viewing Content in Separate Languages), filters (see section Filters), linked documents (see section Links), referenced documents (see section Creating and Referencing External Content), graphics (see section Item Document Elements), and generated content (see section Automated Content Generation using Methods). For the most part, any content displayed in the Editor can be included in an export.
