Enabling an ItemType for Secure Social

When an ItemType is enabled for Secure Social Messaging, the tear-off window for that item will include a colored sidebar on the left side of the window plus a Discussion Panel that provides the Visual Collaboration (VC) functionality.

A detailed description of the Visual Collaboration User Interface is described in the Online Help section of Just Ask Innovator.

Not all ItemTypes are enabled by default. They can be enabled only by an administrator.

To enable social content for an ItemType, do the following:

1. Login to Aras Innovator as an administrator.
2. Go to Contents --> Administration --> ItemTypes.
3. Create a New ItemType or open an existing ItemType, for example, Manufacturer Part ItemType from the search grid for edit.

2. Click this button to enable the Manufacturer Part ItemType for secure social content.

The ItemType is now enabled for secure social.

6. Select the Secure Social tab.

A single DiscussionTemplate with the following default properties has already been added in the relationship grid.

• Class path: Root
• File Selection Depth: -1
• Item Selection: -1

7. Click and to close the window.
