Products

A Product is an additional ItemType that represents something that a customer will buy from your company. A Product is related to one or more models, which are then related to a Parent Part item that contains the top-level BOM for the Product Model. Products may or may not be useful in your organization depending on your requirements and are not necessary for release or modification of Parts. As the Product is not directly under change management control, it has no Life Cycle.

To create a Product:

1. Go to Contents →Design→Products.
2. Click Create New Product. The new Product view appears. Enter the necessary information.



• Product Number – The Product number.
• Name – The name of the Product.
• Description – Remarks about the Product.
3. Add Models as described in section 10.2 Adding Models to a Product.
4. Click Save or Done to save your changes and create the Product.

To add a Model to a Product:

1. Open the Product.
2. Click Edit.
3. Go to the Models accordion tab.
4. Click New Model on the Models accordion toolbar. A new row appears at the bottom of the Models grid.



5. Enter the necessary information by clicking on the corresponding cell in the Models grid.
• Model Number – The Model number.
• Model Name – The Model name.
• Release Number – For software products, this is the release number.
• Version Number – For software products, this is the version number.
• Part Number – The Part that represents the Model.
6. Click Save or Done to save your changes. The Model is attached to the Part.

To remove Models from a Product:

1. Open the Product.
2. Click Edit.
3. Go to the Models accordion tab.
4. Click the Model to be removed and then click Delete Model on the Models accordion toolbar. The Model becomes greyed out.



5. Click either Save or Done to save your changes. The Model disappears from the grid.

You can delete a Product either from its view or by using the context menu in the Product Search Page.

To delete a Product using its view:

1. Open the Product.
2. On the Product toolbar, click More→ Delete→Delete.



3. Click OK in the confirmation dialog to delete the Product.



To delete a Product using its context menu:

4. Go to the Products Search Page.
5. Right-click the Product to be deleted and then click More → Delete.
6. Click OK in the confirmation dialog to delete the Product.
