Get Started with AI Search
AI Search is part of the Edge platform. To get access, your organization requires an active Aras InnovatorEdge AI Subscription (AS-1242).
- The designated tenant owner in your organization follows Request an Edge account to get access.
- Other people in your organization will contact their tenant owner to request user access.
- After onboarding, you will receive your login credentials in your Edge account (tenant).
Before enabling AI Search, confirm the following:
- You have administrator access to the target Innovator instance.
- You have decided your deployment model: SaaS or OnPrem. The steps below cover enabling each one.
- Your Innovator instance is version 14.0.15 or later.
- Aras InnovatorEdge AI Subscription: AS-1242
On SaaS
For Aras-hosted Innovator SaaS instances, the AI Search service components are deployed and operated by Aras. Enabling AI Search requires adding two files to your Work repository and running your deployment pipeline. Follow Installation of AI Search for SaaS for the full procedure.
OnPrem/Private Cloud
AI Search can be deployed entirely on your own infrastructure using Docker containers, for organizations with strict data residency or network isolation requirements. Follow Installation of AI Search for OnPrem/Private Cloud for the full procedure, including the Docker Compose stack, required environment variables, certificate setup, and the Innovator-side package.
Through Edge API
External developers and integrators consuming AI Search results programmatically should see Consuming the Semantic Search API Endpoint in the AI Search User Guide for authentication and endpoint details.
Once AI Search is enabled and the Innovator-side package is installed, an administrator configures what is searchable.
- Open the AI Search page in Innovator.
- Select the gear icon in the top right corner of the page to open the AI Search Configurator. This icon is visible only to Innovator administrators.
- Type an ItemType name in the Select an ItemType... field to find the type you want to index.
- Select Add to expand the ItemType row, then configure it by adding at least one property, enabling file handling with file types, or enabling file properties in the File Properties section.
- Select Apply.
This is enough to confirm AI Search is working end to end. For the full configuration reference, including title and subtitle templates, schema import and export, and monitoring indexing status, see the AI Search Configurator - Admin Guide.
