Creating, Sharing and Saving Reports

Creating a new report item is the process of creating a report template that can be used to generate reports. A new report item can be created by clicking the
role button in the upper-right corner of the window to access the context menu:
Click Reports --> New Report to access the Report Designer.
The Report Designer contains multiple tabs.
- ItemTypes: to select the top-level ItemType, related ItemTypes, and Item datatype properties.
- Properties: to specify which property values will be displayed in the report.
- Summary: to create the report Summary section.
- Chart: to create a bar, pie, trend, or funnel chart.
- Chart2: to create the second bar, pie, trend, or funnel chart.
- Gauge: to create a gauge dashboard.
- Misc: to name the report and provide title, header, and footer information.
- Style: to provide additional styling to the report: colors, layout, etc.
- Filters: to define default data filters to restrict the amount of data shown conditionally.
- Preview: to run the report in the Preview mode.
Use the following basic procedure for creating a report:
- Select the top-level ItemType in the list.
- Select the properties to include in the report.
- Click the Continue to Properties button. The Report shown in figure 7 appears.
- Click the Misc tab to add more information about the report:
- Enter the following information:
- Name: a report name that is required.
- Title: a main report title.
- Description: text under the main title.
- Header: text at the top of every page.
- Footer: text at the bottom of every page.
- Specify report availability by selecting the appropriate radio button in the Share Report field.
- Click the ellipses in the Drill Down Keys field to specify the information to appear in the report.
- Set the report availability by selecting one of the radio buttons in the Share Report field and selecting the access type from the dropdown list.
- Click the Continue to Style button to access the Style tab and continue modifying the report.
- Click Continue to Filters to filter the report data.
- Click Preview to view the report.
Click the justification
button to reposition the report fields.
The report can be shared to everyone (Public) or a specific list of Identities (Aliases or Groups) with one of four options:
Full: a user can view, modify, and save changes to the report. Read Only: a user can view the report, add, modify, or remove filters and filter values. The user can also modify (design) the report, use Save As to create a copy, but cannot change the original design. View Only: a user can view the report but cannot modify it in any way or save changes to it. Locked: the report is available to view only.
Click the Save Report
button.
